Myrtlewood Collection

Bago Luma has an exciting new collection for the discriminating buyer. The beauty and character of reclaimed Myrtlewood is combined with signature Judy Deaton designs to create an exciting new collection of furniture and accessories exclusively for Bago Luma.

Myrtlewood is extremely rare. It grows in small groves throughout the coastal areas of Southwestern Oregon and the southern Pacific Coast. The wood was sliced into thick slabs almost 30 years ago, and has been in dry storage since. The shape of the slabs is very irregular and the natural bark is still attached to many pieces. No other hardwood excels myrtlewood in beauty of grain and variety of coloring.

While we are still in the introduction phase of this collection we will feature several simple table bases and tabletop accents. We have chosen bases with clean lines so that they don’t compete with the wood tops. If you prefer a more ornamental base, you may choose from any of our hand forged table bases.

Important facts:

  • Wood slabs are extremely irregular in shape. You may request your top to be "somewhat irregular" or "very irregular". Many of the "very irregular" have naturally formed holes. Upon request, we will try to find one with or without this character if requested.
  • Thicknesses of most slabs vary from 2" to 5" inches thick. Larger sizes are usually thicker than smaller ones.
  • Protective sealer has been applied to make these slabs food safe
